NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Columbus State University women's basketball recorded a 30-point victory on Saturday as the Lady Cougars defeated Mars Hill University 95-65 on the second day of the Southeast Region Challenge hosted by Newberry College.
CSU (2-0) trailed 22-21 after the first quarter before turning on the jets, outscoring MHU 31-15 in the second to set the tone for the remainder of the game.
Five players scored in double figures lead for Columbus State, led by 24 from Imani Arnold. The senior transfer was one rebound shy for her first double-double in a Lady Cougar uniform. Olonna Rawls (17), Amber Abusbeih (13), Alycia Reese (12) and Adrieanna Brownlee (10) all had good scoring days, with Rawls picking up a double-double thanks to 12 rebounds.
As a team, the Lady Cougars shot an impressive 48.7% (37-for-76) mark from the floor. CSU forced 31 Mars Hill turnovers leading to 35 points. Columbus State also outscored the Lions 56-24 in the paint.
