ANDERSON, S.C. - The Columbus State University women's basketball team cruised past Anderson University 99-53 Monday night. The Lady Cougars advanced to 6-3 while the Lady Trojans fell to 7-4.
Five Lady Cougars scored in the double digits, including
Jurnee Smith's double-double. Smith led the way for Columbus State, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the 28 minutes she played. The senior went 7-for-8 from the free throw line.
Imani Arnold added 16 points and went 8-for-10 from the free throw line,
Kristyn Goshay posted 15 with nine from behind the 3-point line,
Olonna Rawls scored 13 and
Alycia Reese chalked up 10 in the Cougar victory.
Columbus State remained in front the entire game, but really took the lead in the second quarter when Arnold made two free throws to make the score 44-24. From there, the Lady Trojans couldn't get within 20 points of CSU.
Columbus State will face Lander University on Friday, Dec. 17 at 1:30 p.m. This will be the Lady Cougars' first Peach Belt Conference matchup of the 2021-22 season.
