COLUMBUS – Opening day of the 2021 Columbus State University softball season will be delayed by a few hours as expected rain in the Chattahoochee Valley has forced changes to this weekend's schedule.
Instead of throwing the first pitch of the season on Saturday, the Cougars will host Tuskegee University for a doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 7 beginning at noon at Cougar Field.
Once the season does begin, Columbus State will take the field for the first time since March 12, 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic halted play CSU was 14-9, including winning eight of its final nine games, in the shortened season.
Fans will be allowed to attend Sunday's doubleheader;
however, health and safety protocols must be followed. Masks/Face Coverings are required to be worn at all times while visitors are on the campus of Columbus State University and should be combined by following best physical distancing practices. Limited fan stand-seating at Cougar Field will be available with additional green space for viewing opportunities. For more information regarding CSU's COVID-19 response plan,
