COLUMBUS - After 11 days off, the Columbus State University softball team will be back in action on Wednesday as the team will travel to Montevallo, Ala. to play a doubleheader against the University of Montevallo Falcons. First pitch will be at 3 p.m. eastern standard time at Orr Park.

The Cougars (10-4) were set to play Division I Mercer University on Wednesday, March 3, however it was postponed due to wet field conditions from rain. CSU is currently on a season-high six-game winning streak.

• The Cougars are on a six-game winning streak following sweeps over Emmanuel College, Miles College and Shorter University. Wednesday will be just the fourth true road game for CSU, with the Cougars holding a 2-1 record. 

• Columbus State's offense has been one of the most potent in the Peach Belt Conference. CSU leads the league in on-base percentage (.452), while ranking third in home runs (15) and stolen bases (18). 

• The Cougars have shown plenty of patience at the plate this year. CSU currently leads the nation in walks drawn (78). 

• Hannah Rose Corbin is starting to make noise across the NCAA Division II level. The second-year sophomore earned PBC Player of the Week honors and was named the Louisville Slugger National Fastpitch Coaches Association Player of the Week last week. Corbin is tied for third in the nation with six home runs, and remains inside the top-10 in the PBC in slugging percentage (2nd, 1.031), runs scored (T-1st, 16), on-base percentage (3rd, .623) and walks (2nd, 19).

• Katelyn Cooper has been an offensive machine as the second-year freshman leads the Cougars and the PBC with a .522 batting average. Cooper also ranks second with a .633 on-base percentage. She is on a five-game hitting streak and has recorded a team-leading five stolen bases.

• Caitlyn Canady has a hit in 12 of the Cougars' 14 games this season, including one in each of the past 10. The second-year freshman has tallied nine RBIs and 12 runs. 

• Harley Dawson leads CSU and ranks seventh in the conference with a 2.01 ERA. The fifth-year senior passed the 150 strikeout mark in her career last week.  

• Montevallo, members of the Gulf South Conference, has an overall record of 6-9 and are 4-6 at Orr Park this season. The Falcons are 3-5 in GSC play.

• The Falcons split a doubleheader against No. 9 Valdosta State on Sunday. UM bounced back from an 11-0 loss to defeat VSU 2-0 in game two. Fallon Groves produced the runs with a two-run single up the middle, scoring Brooke Ingram and Avery Witten in the second inning.

• Kinley Adams is the offensive threat for the Falcons as the freshman is hitting .486 with three doubles and a triple. Adams has six RBIs, a .537 on-base percentage and is six-for-six in stolen bases attempts. She had a five-hit game against No. 14 Alabama-Huntsville earlier in the season.

• Witten is also performing well at the plate as she has a .417 batting average with 10 hits, including a home run and two doubles. The freshman leads the team in slugging percentage (.625) and carries a .517 on-base percentage.

• Four Falcons have hit a homer this season, including Sawyer Martin (2) and Carlee Mullinax (2). Martin has 10 hits and is hitting .357 at the plate while adding six RBIs. Mullinax is tied for the team lead in RBIs (7) with Sierra Easterwood.

• Montevallo has a deep pitching staff with seven different players making appearances this season. However, the team has an overall 6.24 ERA, with Mychael McMillan leading the Falcons with 4.34. Mychael McMillan has a 3-1 record in eight appearances and has limited opponents to a .223 average.
