AIKEN, S.C. - Hannah Rose Corbin pitched the 24th no-hitter in Columbus State University softball program history in the opening victory against USC Aiken Friday afternoon. The Cougars improved to 26-11 (10-4 PBC) after sweeping the Pacers, who fell to 5-13 (5-11 PBC).

GAME 1: CSU 10-0

Corbin improved to 15-6 on the season after pitching the 24th no-hitter in Cougar softball history. Corbin struck out five and only walked three in her historic six-inning performance. It's the fourth time in Peach Belt Conference history that a team has thrown back-to-back no-hitters.

Columbus State hit the board first in the top of the second inning when Laura Harris was able to score from third off of a throwing error. Harris tripled down the right field line to lead off the inning for the Cougars.

In the third, Caitlyn Canady ripped a double to left field to start things off for CSU. Katelyn Cooper bunt-singled and then Hannah Rose Corbin picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly to left field, making it a 2-0 ballgame.

Paige Vincent collected her first home run of the season in the top of the fourth to extend Columbus State's lead to three. With two outs, Madeline Parker made her way around the bases thanks to back-to-back singles from Canady and Cooper, giving the Cougars the 4-0 lead over the Pacers.

Vincent delivered again in the fifth, smacking an RBI double to right center to score Lindsey Patton who also doubled to start the inning for the Cougars.

CSU busted the game open in the sixth scoring five more runs to give them a 10-0 lead over Aiken. With the bases loaded, L. Patton hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Parker from third. Laura Harris then singled to third base, plating Canady. Finally, it was Morgan Elston who extended the Cougars' lead to 10, jacking a three-run homer to centerfield.

Canady was 3-for-4 (2B, 2 R), Cooper (SB), Harris (3B, 2 R, 1 RBI) and Vincent (2B, HR, 1 R, 2 RBIs) were all 2-for-4, while Elston (HR, 1 BB, 1 R, 3 RBIs) and L. Patton (2B, 1 R, 1 RBI) both added one hit.

Columbus State crossed the plate first in the top of the second inning, scoring two runs off of two hits. Madeline Parker cracked an RBI double to left center, scoring Harris who singled to lead off the inning. Canady then gave CSU the 2-0 lead with an RBI single to centerfield, scoring Elston.

The Cougars extended their lead to three in the third when Vincent hit a hard bases loaded grounder to first base, allowing Corbin to score.

The Pacers scored their first run of the day in the bottom of the fourth after an RBI double from Moore, making it a 3-1 ballgame.

With the bases loaded, Parker collected her second double of the game in the fifth, ripping a ball to centerfield to score Harris and Elston.
