COLUMBUS - The 13th-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team closed out a perfect weekend with a 7-0 victory over Peach Belt Conference rival Lander University on Saturday at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
Less than 24 hours after clinching a 4-3 win over 14th-ranked Flagler College, the Lady Cougars (10-3, 5-0 PBC) were back on the court in doubles play against LU. First and second doubles showed no signs of fatigue as Candice Paya and Beatriz Lopez took a 6-1 decision at the top spot and Valentina Abrile and Sara Ramirez Goncalves blanking their opponents at the second position. Lander (8-6, 3-2) did get a 7-5 win at third doubles when Lindsey Wiggins and Roberta Armani edged Luise Sachs and Amanda Citre.
Columbus State rolled in singles play, dropping more than three games in just two sets in the six straight-set victories. Lopez began the demolition with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ferreria at the number one spot, while Ramirez Goncalves was even more impressive at fifth singles in a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Armani. At second singles, Sachs recorded a 6-4, 6-0 outcome against Chiara Gerbino.
Abrile and Citre almost had identical scores at third and fourth singles. Abrile was a 6-2, 6-1 winner versus Raquel Aco, with Citre taking fourth singles 6-1, 6-1. Agostina Bigotti closed out the day with a 7-5, 6-2 win at sixth singles over Wiggins.

Columbus State will travel to Milledgeville, Ga. to face off against Georgia College on Tuesday, April 6 at 1 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for February 13 but was postponed due to rain.
