AIKEN, S.C. - The No. 4 Columbus State University women's soccer team defeated USC Aiken 6-0 on Saturday in Peach Belt Conference action.
Six different players found the back of the net for CSU (12-1-1, 8-0-0) as the Cougars won their ninth straight match.
Abigal Akerson scored the first goal of the afternoon in the 12th minute off a rebound attempt, and CSU never looked back. Columbus State led 3-0 by halftime after scores from
Rachael Sweigard and
Lizz Forshaw.
The Cougars added three more goals in the second half, including
Carley Canzoneri's first score of the year.
Anna Grady and
Emma Beddow added goals in the 62nd and 64th minutes, respectively.
Lizzie Hedrick and
Sara Halilhodzic teamed up for the shutout in goal.
Columbus State is back at home on Wednesday, Oct. 19 against Catawba College.
