No. 4 Cougars set for PBC showdown against Georgia College

Georgia College sits behind the Cougars in the PBC standings.

COLUMBUS - The No. 4 Columbus State University women's soccer team is back at the Walden Soccer Complex on Saturday, Oct. 8, to host Georgia College. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

MATCH INFORMATION
Saturday's match is CSU's annual "Kicks for the Cure" initiative to help raise money and awareness for cancer. CSU will wear pink jerseys and hold an auction for each player's jerseys following the match.

ABOUT CSU
• Columbus State (9-1-1, 5-0-1 PBC) looks to keep its winning ways going. CSU is on a six-match winning streak and is unbeaten over its last eight matches.
• The Cougars had to win an offensive slugfest on Wednesday at Young Harris College. Columbus State scored three goals in the second half en route to a 5-3 win over the Mountain Lions.
• CSU sits atop the Peach Belt Conference standings with 16 points, three ahead of both Flagler College and Georgia College. The PBC Tournament begins on Friday, Oct. 28.
• Columbus State has the second-highest scoring average (3.91 goals/m) at the DII level and the second-most goals (43).
Emma Beddow is 11th in the nation with 10 goals and 13th with 23 points.
• Thirteen different Cougars have scored a goal in 2022.
• Columbus State has scored at least five goals in three of the last four matches.
• Columbus State is 14-2-1 at home since 2020.
• The Cougars were fourth in the latest United Soccer Coaches DII poll. CSU has been inside the top five since Sept. 6.
• CSU is 15-0-1 in PBC play since the start of 2021. 

ABOUT GEORGIA COLLEGE
• Georgia College (5-4-2, 4-1-1 PBC) has played well halfway through the conference slate to remain in the hunt for a PBC title. 
• The Bobcats are still looking for their program's first PBC regular-season title. GC hasn't finished better than fifth in the PBC standings since 2009.
 • Georgia College grabbed a 1-0 road win at Albany State University on Wednesday. Aralyn Everett put home the game-winner in the 23rd minute, while Mya Necolettos and Kate Richardson teammed up for the shutout. 
• Sarah Mason leads GC in points (9) and is tied for the team-lead with Martin in goals (3).
• Richardson has started all 11 matches for Georgia College in goal and holds a 1.05 goals-against average. 
• GC is 3-3-2 away from home in 2022.

SERIES HISTORY
• Saturday will be the 26th all-time meeting between Columbus State and Georgia College. CSU leads the series 18-2-5.
• The Cougars are currently unbeaten over the past six matches against the Bobcats, with GC's last win coming in 2017. 
• Columbus State hasn't ever lost to Georgia College in Columbus (10-0-2).
