COLUMBUS - The No. 4 Columbus State University women's soccer team used two first-half goals within a minute to defeat Georgia College 2-0 on Saturday. The Peach Belt Conference match took place at the Walden Soccer Complex in Columbus.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
• After a competitive opening 30 minutes, the Cougars broke through in the 33rd minute. Emma Beddow outran a defender to a ball to start an attack before centering the action to Faith Knoedler in the box. Knoedler quickly flipped a pass to Rachael Sweigard, who finished the opening goal.
• Less than 50 seconds later, the Cougars were back in the box, where Beddow drew a penalty kick chance. The sophomore calmly converted the opportunity to put CSU in front 2-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Columbus State (10-1-1, 6-0-1 PBC) finished the match with 21 shots after recording 13 over the second half. GC had five, including three.
• CSU kept the ball on the Bobcat side of the pitch, especially during the second half. The Cougars finished the day with 11 corners, compared to two from GC.
• The Cougars led the foul column 11-8. However, three GC players drew yellow cards.
• Beddow, Knoedler and Sweigard all had three shots.Â
• Lizzie Hedrick made two saves, while Sara Halilhodzic had two in the combined shutout.
• Kate Richardson made eight saves in an impressive effort.

• Columbus State is unbeaten over its last nine matches and on a seven-match winning streak.
• Beddow has scored a goal in three straight matches. She has found the back of the net in nine of CSU's 12 matches in 2022.
• Beddow is 7-for-7 in PK opportunities this year.
• Sweigard has also scored in three straight after knocking in her 25th career goal. She needs three more to move into a 10th-place tie all-time in CSU history.Â
• It was the seventh shutout for CSU this season.Â
