Box Score JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Columbus State University men's basketball team beat Carson-Newman 58-56 Friday night. The Cougars improve to 4-2 and the Eagles fall to 5-2.
After trailing by four points after the first half, the Cougars kicked it into gear in the second half, outscoring the Eagles 27-21 to secure the victory.
Demierre Black's two made free throws gave CSU the lead with just under 15 minutes to play in the game. For the final 15 minutes, CNU couldn't get the lead back.
NOTES:
- Daniel Melvin led CSU with 18Â points and three steals
- Black scored 12 points and went 4-for-5 from the free throw line
- Lederrius Jones grabbed five rebounds
