Aiken, S.C. - The Columbus State University women's basketball team powered over USC Aiken Wednesday night, defeating the Pacers 65-35 in the Convocation Center.
Columbus State improved to 15-12 (8-9 PBC), while USC Aiken fell to 8-17 (4-13 PBC). The Lady Cougars moved back into the fourth spot in the PBC standings and will secure a home game in the upcoming PBC Tournament with a win on Saturday at Georgia College.
The Lady Cougars took the lead early, ending the first quarter up 14-5 and never looked back. Both offenses were cold in the second quarter as the two teams combined to score only 20 points with CSU going into the break up 23-16.Â
Columbus State stepped on the gas in the third, going 9-for-20 from the floor to stretch the lead to 47-28. CSU's defense continued to stifle USCA over the fourth. The Pacers scored just seven points over the final 10 minutes as CSU cruised to the 30-point victory.Â
Chrisalyn Boston led CSU in scoring with 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season. The graduate senior blocked two more shots to up her season total to 43.Â
Amber Abusbeih also scored in double-digits with 12 points.
The Lady Cougars will finish the regular season against Georgia College on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 3:30 p.m. in Milledgeville, Ga.
