St. Augustine, Fla. - The Columbus State University softball team beat Flagler College 6-3 in the third and final game of the three-game series on Monday at Flagler Field in St. Augustine, Fla.
With the win, the Cougars improve to 11-10 and 4-2 inside the PBC. Flagler is now 12-10 and 1-2 in conference action.
PBC Pitcher of the Week, Hannah Rose Corbin, earned the win inside the circle after tossing another complete game to improve to 9-3.
After Flagler scored in the bottom of the first off a wild pitch, Madeline Parker gave the Cougars a 2-1 lead thanks to a 2-run home run over the left-centerfield fence.Â
Both teams couldn't muster another run until the fifth when Columbus State scored four runs off of two hits and one error. Caitlyn Canady reached on a fielding error with one out before a walk by Paige Vincent and a single by Corbin loaded the bases. Laura Harris used her eye to draw a bases-loaded walk to make it 3-1, while a Kenzie Bayer sacrifice fly added another. Morgan Elston had the big hit though, finding a hole through the left side of the infield to increase CSU's lead to 6-1.
The Saints continued to inch back, getting a run back in the fifth and added another in the sixth on an RBI single from Alyssa Velez.Â
However, Corbin threw a scoreless seventh to secure the Cougar win.
Parker (2-for-3) was the lone Cougar with two hits. Five others had one.Â
