COLUMBUS - The No. 9 Columbus State University baseball team powered over Point University 21-3 in a nonconference game Wednesday at Ragsdale Field at Burger King Stadium led by two home runs from
Steven Minter.
The Cougars improve to 14-3, while Point falls to 8-8.
Steven Minter opened up the scoring in the first after jacking a three-run home run over the left field fence.
Derek Wylie made it 4-0 later in the inning with an RBI single to left field.
Point got one run back in the third, but the Cougars continued to put more runs on the board, scoring seven in the bottom of the inning.
Robert Brooks extended the Cougar lead to 6-1, thanks to a two-run homer to center field.
Colby Brabston,
Connor Kirley and
Win Johns all added a run-scoring hit to to help make it an 11-1 ballgame at the end of the inning.
With some CSU pitching struggles, the Skyhawks were able to plate two in the top of the fourth.
From the fourth inning to the sixth, Columbus State stretched their lead to earn the run-rule win.
Isaac Bouton,
Matthew McDade and Minter each hit a homer apiece in the span helping to end the game early.Â
Minter finished the day 3-for-5 with two homers, five RBIs and three runs scored, while Johns went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Bouton, Meadows, Wylie and Kirley each added two hits each in the win.Â

Columbus State will begin Peach Belt Conference play on Friday, March 4 as Claflin University will be coming to Columbus State for a three-game series. The first pitch on Friday is set for 5 p.m. at Burger King Stadium.
