COLUMBUS - The 13th-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team stayed hot on Monday, taking down Southern Arkansas University 7-0 in non-conference play at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
The win is the fifth in a row for CSU (9-4), all coming in an eight-day stretch.
The Lady Cougars didn't have many issues against Southern Arkansas as all three CSU doubles pairs won to begin the day.
Valentina Abrile and
Mariana Ramirez had a 6-3 win at first doubles, while both second and third doubles were decided by 6-4 margins.Â
Columbus State raced through singles play, with all six being straight-set victories. At the top spot, 22nd-ranked
Neila Trklja downed Lena Milosevic 6-1, 6-0, while both
Mariana Ramirez (2nd) and
Agostina Bigotti (6th) collected 6-0, 6-0 victories.Â
Abrile (6-2, 6-4),
Yelena Labat (6-1, 6-2) and
Luciana Galves (6-2, 6-0) capped off the Lady Cougar sweep by winning third, fourth and fifth singles respectively.Â
