COLUMBUS - With expected rain in the forecast for Wednesday in Franklin Springs, Ga., the Columbus State University softball team will now play a doubleheader against Emmanuel College on Tuesday, March 22 starting at 3 p.m.
Cougar Notes
- CSU is 13-12 (4-2 PBC) heading into the non-conference doubleheader.
- Columbus State is coming back from a spring break trip, going 4-3 in Florida. The Cougars won a three-game series against Peach Belt Conference rival Flagler College before travling further south to Fort Lauderdale where they dropped a doubleheader to Nova Southeastern University. However, CSU turned things around on Wednesday and swept Barry University.
- Hannah Rose Corbin is leading the Cougar offense hitting .397 with a 1.266 OPS. In the doubleheader against Barry, the slugger went 4-for-6 with a home run, two doubles and two RBIs.
- Caitlyn Canady had a spectacular series against Flagler, going 7-for-12, including ripping a homer in her first at-bat of the three-game set.
- Inside the circle, Corbin is 10-4 and has an even 100 strikeouts on the year.
Lion Notes
- Emmanuel College is 19-12 (2-2 Conference Carolinas).
- The Lions swept Chowan University (8-0, 12-4)Â in their last time out on Sunday, March 20
- Chloe Nadler leads the Lion offense with a .394 batting average, 33 RBIs, 23 runs scored, 12 doubles and four homers.Â
- Kyna Cheney, Brighton Harder and Lexi Jordan are also hitting over .300 with a home run apiece. Jordan carries 25 RBIs into Tuesday.
- Maddie Edwards is the pitching threat for EC, posting a 3.04 ERA, 7-5 record and 68 strikeouts.
