COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University softball team will host a three-game series against Peach Belt Conference opponent Augusta University this weekend at Cougar Field. The first game is set for 5 p.m. on Friday, March 25 with a doubleheader to be played on Saturday, March 26 starting at noon.

Cougar Notes

• CSU just dropped a doubleheader to Emmanuel College on Tuesday, losing both games 4-3. The Cougars are 13-14 (4-2 PBC) entering Friday.
• Paige Vincent went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and collected three RBIs in the first game against the Lions. Madeline Parker and Laura Harris both hit solo homers in game two.
• Hannah Rose Corbin (.382) and Caitlyn Canady (.316) are the only Cougars hitting over the .300 mark. Corbin leads the team in walks (28) and doubles (8), and ranks second on the team in RBIs (21) and home runs (4). Canady leads the team with 31 hits and 24 runs scored.
• Morgan Elston leads Columbus State with nine homers and 28 RBIs.
• Inside the circle, Corbin holds a 2.98 ERA with 107 strikeouts and a 1.44 WHIP.

Jaguar Notes

• Augusta is 12-17 (1-8 PBC) after recently dropping two of three games to Flagler College last weekend. The Jags picked up its lone PBC win on March 19, winning 3-2 over Flagler. AU has also lost series to USC Aiken and the University of North Georgia.
• Olivia Biles leads AU offensively with a .386 batting average, 32 hits including 10 doubles and 24 RBIs.
• Paige Patterson holds a .301 average with six homers, four doubles and 13 RBIs, while Summer Frye and Jakayla Sullivan also having averages over .300.
• Biles and Sullivan each collected two hits in the win over Flagler
• AU struggles inside the circle as Mary Tillman holds a team-leading 4.58 ERA. However, Tillman has struck out 119 batters so far this season.

Last Matchup

The Cougars split with the Jaguars on Friday, April 2, 2021. CSU took game one of the doubleheader 4-3 with Corbin earning the win inside the circle. The Cougars dropped the second game 10-1 in five innings.
