COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University softball team will look to complete a five-game homestand with a perfect record on Wednesday as the Cougars host the 16th-ranked University of West Florida in a non-conference doubleheader at Cougar Field. First pitch is at 1 p.m.

• The Cougars (16-14) are coming off a weekend sweep, outscoring Augusta University 27-8 in three victories in Columbus
• Columbus State has won seven of its last nine home games. Overall in 2022, CSU is 11-6 at Cougar Field
• Kenzie Bayer won his first career PBC Player of the Week honor on Monday after an impressive weekend. The sophomore was 6-for-7 with three doubles and seven RBIs in the sweep of Augusta. Bayer was a perfect 5-for-5 in a Saturday doubleheader and is hitting .500 (11-for-22) in PBC games this season
• Bayer is the third different Cougar to be named the PBC Player of the Week in 2022. USC Aiken is the only other team with two POTW awards this year
• CSU is 2-4 against top-25 teams in 2022. In Columbus, CSU holds a 2-1 mark
• Caitlyn Canady enters Wednesday on a seven-game hit streak, while Hannah Rose Corbin has reached base in 11 straight

WEST FLORIDA NOTES
• West Florida heads into Columbus slumping, losing all three games to 17th-ranked Auburn University at Montgomery this weekend. It's the first time all year UWF has lost back-to-back games
• Overall, the Argonauts are 18-7 this season, including a 7-1 road mark. UWF has been ranked as high as 12th in the NFCA DII poll
• Teala Howard had four hits in the series against AUM and leads UWF in hitting with a .446 average. She has 20 stolen bases in 22 opportunities, with a .480 on-base percentage
• Madelyn Vasquez leads the team with eight homers and 29 RBIs. She has reached base in 24 straight games after failing to do so in the season opener
• Pitching is the key to West Florida's success this season as the Argos hold a 2.63 team ERA, with opponents hitting just .205 against the staff.
• Jeya Prasad leads the Gulf South Conference with a .153 average against and is second in ERA (1.65). She is 10th in DII in hits allowed per seven innings (3.71)
