COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University softball team will play a doubleheader against nonconference opponent Shorter University on Wednesday, April 13 in Rome, Ga. The first game is set for 3 p.m. with the second game starting at 5:30 p.m.
Cougar Notes
- Columbus State is 19-19 (9-6 PBC) after dropping two-of-three games against Peach Belt Conference contender Young Harris College on April 9 and 10.
- Hannah Rose Corbin posts a .375 batting average and a .698 slugging percentage. The Clanton, Ala. native went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run and four RBIs in the opening win against YHC.Â
- Lindsey Patton went a perfect 3-for-3 in the first game against the Mountain Lions with two runs scored and added another hit in the second game.
- Paige Vincent is on a four-game hitting streak including a 2-for-4 performance in game two against YHC. Caitlyn Canady, Kenzie Bayer, Morgan Elston also continue to be crucial in the Cougar offense.
- Pitcher Haylee Folds (3-4) received her third win inside the circle in the opening game against the Mountain Lions after striking out three and not allowing any runs.
Shorter Notes
- Shorter is 5-35 (2-21 GSC). The Eagles are on a four game losing streak after losing a three-game series against conference rival Christian Brothers University and a single game against PBC opponent the University of North Georgia.Â
- Shorter's last win was on Saturday, April 2 against Lee University (Tenn.) 9-8.Â
- Kaylee Combs leads the Eagle offense batting .319 and posting a .405 slugging percentage. She has 37 hits, four doubles, two homers and 12 RBIs.
- Hannah Morales is also hitting .312 with a team high 17 runs scored and Payton Tuder is the team's RBI producer, batting in 16.
- Courtney Pinkston (2-0) holds a 5.58 ERA in 37.2 innings pitched. Alana Loyd (0-11) posts a team high 42 strikeouts in 76 IP.
