Track & Field Grabs First, Second Places

The men finished first, while the women were in second on Saturday.

ALBANY, Ga - It was a productive day for the Columbus State University track & field programs as the Cougars took first and the Lady Cougars finished second at the annual Alice Coachman Invitational on Saturday in Albany, Ga. 

The Cougar men took first place by a wide margin with a score of 108.5 points. The Lady Cougars finished second with 104 points. Columbus State was the only school with both teams over the 100-point mark. Overall, CSU won four events on Saturday.

CSU dominated pole vault, especially William Player. Player broke the CSU school record with a height of 4.64m. CSU had five athletes in the top five for that event with Alexander Kendall (3.96m), Ryan Conn (3.96m), Matthew Pfledderer (3.71m), and Donovan Stone (3.40m) following Player. 

In the men's Hammer, Tereil Mitchum took first place with a mark of 37.05m. 

As for the track portion, the men shined once again in the 800-meter with Savian Taylor (1:51:83) and Blake Lewis (1:57:24) coming in first and third, respectively.

On the women's side, the Lady Cougars were flying around the track in the 800-meter. Imani Arnold added another win to her resume with a first-place time of 2:23:21. De'aisha Stephens (2:24:49) and Royal Delay (2:24:94) both finished top five in the event as well.

Both teams will travel to Auburn, Alabama for the War Eagle Invitational on April 15-16
