COLUMBUS - The No. 8 Columbus State University baseball team fell 9-8 to Young Harris College in the 2022 Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship game on Sunday at Burger King Stadium at Ragadale Field in Columbus.
CSU (42-11) held an early 3-1 lead before a fourth-inning grand slam by Aaron Copeland changed the course of the game. The Cougars were able to tie the game in the sixth, but a two-run single by Noah Fitzgerald later in the frame put the Moutain Lions on top for good.
Columbus State was in business in the top half of the eighth as
Colby Brabston singled with one out and stole second to put himself into scoring position with two done.
Steven Minter followed with a crucial double down off the right-field wall to plate Brabston and to keep the inning alive. However, after a mound visit, Dylan Beck got
David Meadows to ground out to end the side.
CSU once again put the tying run on second in ninth, but a soft liner to center clinched the championship for Youn Harris. Travis Burnette entered the game with two outs in the ninth and retired the only batter he faced to earn the save.

Isaac Bouton heated up on Sunday for Columbus State after going 3-for-5 with three doubles. Minter stayed hot with a 3-for-4 day and drove in three runs thanks to two doubles.
Colby Brabston scored twice after going 2-for-5.
Six different pitchers saw action for the Cougars, including starter
Chandler Ring. Ring tossed three-innings of one-run ball.

After YHC (38-17) scored a first-inning run, a
