ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - The No. 1 Columbus State University men's tennis team made quick work of No. 14 Azusa Pacific University, sweeping the NCAA DII Men's Tennis Championship quarterfinal match 4-0 on Thursday at Sanlando Park.
CSU (21-2) cruised in the top-15 win and is now one victory away from making its fourth straight appearance in the NCAA DII national championship match. The Cougars have Friday off before taking on No. 10 Wayne State University on Saturday at 8 a.m. in the semifinals.
The Cougars began by taking the doubles point to seize control of the match. No. 6
Alvaro Regalado and
Javier Cueto Ramos got on the winning track in the first position, downing No. 20 Leyton Bohren and Ryan Nuno 6-2. CSU's third doubles team wrapped up the point as
Christian Garay and
Felix Steen defeated Sam Sippel and Ethan Smith 6-4.

Tommaso Schold and
Pietro Martinetti were up 4-3 on Elias Emilio Walter and Miha Velicki at second doubles.
It didn't take Columbus State long to find three wins in singles play, including an impressive performance from top-ranked Regalado at first singles. The senior quickly disposed of No. 8 Nuno 6-1, 6-3 to put the Cougars ahead 2-0.
No. 38 Schold continued to be clutch for Columbus State, recording another straight-set win. Schold breezed to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Bohren in the third spot.
Martinetti picked up the clinching-point for the second straight day, knocking off Velicki 6-2, 6-3 at fifth singles.
In the unfinished matches, CSU was up a set at second and sixth singles, while Azusa Pacific (21-4) led at fourth singles.
