COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's basketball team defeated Augusta 74-66 on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Cougars improve to 9-5 and 3-3 in PBC play. The Lady Jaguars drop to 11-5 and 4-2 in Peach Belt Conference play.
Columbus State was able to defend home court and avenge their early-season loss to Augusta. Sophomores
Maya Jackson and
Emilia Tenbrock got the Lady Cougars off to a hot start as they combined for 11 points out of their first quarter total of 17. Tenbrock continues her outstanding season by putting up 19 points and four rebounds plus two blocks in the game.
Olivia West was on fire coming off the Lady Cougar bench and it was a coming out party for the Freshman. Olivia had her best game of the season scoring 19 points and coming down with 11 rebounds. She finished with career highs in points, field goals made, three-point field goals made, and rebounds.
The Lady Cougars were able to hold off Augusta by shooting 50 percent in the fourth quarter as well as making clutch free-throw after clutch free-throw. They would attempt a quarter high with 20 and convert on 15 of them. CSU would go 24-30 from the charity stripe to close out a hard-fought win.

The Lady Cougars are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 18 when they travel to Greenwood, SC to take on Lander. CSU defeated the Lady Bearcats 76-64 on Dec. 15. The Lady Cougars are currently carrying a two-game road winning streak.
