GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Columbus State University women's basketball team lost a thrilling 57-58 game to Peach Belt Conference foe Lander University Wednesday night inside the Finis Horne Arena. Columbus State falls to 9-6 (3-is 4 PBC) while Lander improves to 6-10, 3-4 PBC).
The Lady Cougars started hot in the first half, outscoring the Bearcats 25-16 in the first period and going into halftime with a 38-30 lead. The second half is where the story changed.
Lander came out of the locker room strong, outscoring CSU 19-9 in the third, making it a 49-47 game. The Lady Cougars and Bearcats were back-and-forth within the last few minutes, and even though CSU outscored LU 10-9 in the final period of play, it wasn't enough to take home the victory.
NOTES:
- Emilia Tenbrock led CSU with a double-double, scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She shot a perfect 100 percent (4-for-4) from the free-throw line.
- Amber Abusbeih bucketed 13 points, added eight rebounds and made three steals and three assists.
- Olonna Rawls scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds.
- Maya Jackson tallied 10 rebounds.
- The Lady Cougars shot 62.5 percent from the free-throw line.
