MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Columbus State University women's basketball team powered through Peach Belt Conference foe, the Georgia College Bobcats, defeating GC 84-79 Saturday afternoon in the Centennial Center. CSU improves to 11-7 (5-5 PBC) and the Bobcats fall to 12-8 (4-6 PBC).
Trailing by five points after the first quarter, the Lady Cougars outscored the Bobcats 25-13 in the second to take a 43-36 lead. Georgia College came out stronger after halftime, catching up to CSU and creating a one-point game (61-60).
Both teams played aggressive in the final 10 minutes of play, but the Lady Cougars outdid the Bobcats. With just 54 seconds left,
Emilia Tenbrock drained a three-pointer to tie the game up at 79. Seconds later,
Olonna Rawls gave CSU the lead with a made layup. In the last 18 seconds, Tenbrock and
Maya Jackson created the five-point security lead with made free-throws.
NOTES:
- Tenbrock scored 26 points, shot 64 percent (7-for-11) from the field and 83 percent (10-for-12) from the charity line.
- Amber Abusbeih posted 14 points, five assists and three steals
- Rawls tallied 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds
- Simone Lett also recorded 11 points
