ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Columbus State University women's basketball team cruised to a 86-57 victory over Peach Belt Conference opponent Flagler College Wednesday night to begin the new year. The Lady Cougars improve to 8-3 (2-1 PBC) while the Lady Saints fall to 3-10 (0-3 PBC).
CSU started off strong with a 22-17 lead after the first period and continued the aggressive scoring throughout the rest of the game, outscoring FC by at least five points per quarter. The Lady Cougars' scored a season-high 29 points in the second quarter, creating a 21-point lead over Flagler going into the second half. CSU held FC to only scoring seven points in the third quarter.
"Our energy and effort has been really good the past two practices," said head coach Matt Houser. "All that just transferred over to the game. We can do this every game, if we practice like how we did the rest of the time."
NOTES:
- Emilia Tenbrock led CSU with 20 points, shooting 7-for-13 from the field and a perfect 100 percent from behind the arc (1-for-1) and from the free throw line (5-for-5)
- Amber Abusbeih recorded a double-double, scoring 16 points and making 10 assists
- Olonna Rawls and Olivia West also scored in the double digits, Rawls tallying 12 and West 11
- Rawls and Maya Jackson each grabbed six rebounds
- CSU almost tied the game-high total in points this season (88 against Montevallo on Nov. 14)

The Lady Cougars will return to Columbus for the first home game of the new year on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 1:30 p.m. inside the Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center. CSU will take on PBC contender Clayton State University.
