Nelson Haskin propels Cougars to a huge victory over Clayton State

The men's basketball team defeated Clayton State 80-61

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University men's basketball team routed the Clayton State Lakers 80-61 on Saturday afternoon. With the Cougars first win at home this season, they improve to 2-2 in conference play and 9-5 overall. Clayton State will move to 2-11 and 0-3 in PBC play.

Columbus State forward, Nelson Haskin, had a huge night for the Cougars as he paced them in points (16), rebounds (12) and steals (1). Haskin has eclipsed the 100 rebound mark for the season and he is fourth in the Peach Belt for rebounds on the year.

The Cougars were efficient shooting the rock as they shot 45 percent from the floor, their fourth best shooting percentage of the season. They also had their lowest three-point shots attempted in a game this year (9) as they were able to terrorize the Lakers from the paint and midrange. The story of the night, however, was the size and tenacity of the CSU bigs as they out-rebounded Clayton State 55 to 38. Haskin brought down 12, Joshua Jerome came down with 11 and Perry Robinson VI had seven.
