MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Columbus State University team defeated Peach Belt Conference opponent Georgia College & State University 3-1 on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Bobcat Field. The Cougars improve to 7-3-1 (5-0-1 PBC) and the Bobcats fall to 6-5-2 (3-3-1 PBC).
Columbus State scored two goals in the second half to take a 2-0 lead over Georgia College. Junior
Lauren Barnes put the Cougars on board first scoring a goal in the ninth minute, assisted by
Emma Beddow. In the 25th minute, the ball deflected off of a Georgia College defender and went into the back of the net to put CSU ahead 2-0.Â
In the second half, sophomore
Abigail Akerson scored unassisted to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead. Georgia College scored in the 88th minute to make the final score 3-1.
