AMERICUS, Ga. - The Columbus State University women's soccer team defeated Peach Belt Conference foe Georgia Southwestern State University 2-0 on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Hurricane Field in Americus, Ga. The Cougars improve to 6-3-1 (4-0-1 PBC) and the Hurricanes drop to 3-6-2 (1-3-1 PBC).
Sophomore
Kenna Armitage scored her first collegiate goal in the 17th minute to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the first half.
The second half got physical after the Cougars took a 2-0 lead thanks to an
Abigail Akerson goal assisted by
Emma Beddow in the 68th minute. There were five total yellow cards called, three given to Columbus State and two to Georgia Southwestern.Â
GSW only had two shots total, none being on goal, while CSU tallied 13 shots and eight on goal. The Cougars had 10 corner kicks and held the Hurricanes to zero corner kick attempts.
