COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's basketball team opened the season with an 81-73 victory over Miles College at the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center on Friday, Nov. 10.
Columbus State jumped to a quick 20-16 lead in the first quarter over the Golden Bears and held it throughout the entirety of the game. Although, Miles College stayed persistent, outscoring the Lady Cougars 23-12 in the fourth quarter.
Four Lady Cougars' scored in the double-digits with
Letiya Reeves leading the team with 23 points. Reeves not only scored 23 points but also pulled down 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. She was just one assist away from earning a triple-double.
Jasmine Rai Stevens shot 71 percent from three-point range, going 5-7 behind the arc and scoring 17 points.
Lacy Robins recorded 13 points with 8 rebounds and an impressive 6 blocks on the night.
Amber Abusbeih, the fourth Lady Cougar to score in double figures, had 13 points on the night.
Columbus State got 27 points off turnovers as a team, while Miles College had 18. In addition, the Lady Cougars scored 34 points on fast breaks.
