Box Score DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The second-seeded Columbus State University women's soccer team upset the first-seeded University of North Georgia on Sunday, Nov. 12 at the UNG Soccer Complex in the Peach Belt Conference tournament championship match. The Cougars beat the Nighthawks 3-1 to win the championship for the ninth time in program history.
Columbus State took an early lead in the 13th minute when
Emma Beddow scored, assisted by
Lauren Barnes. The Cougars had a lead for 20 more minutes until North Georgia scored off of a penalty kick to go into halftime tied 1-1.
The second half is where the Cougars turned on the offense and increased the momentum on the field.
Brooke Ouimette's goal in the 51st minute gave the Cougars the energy they needed to defeat the Nighthawks. Ouimette then assisted
Abigail Akerson in the 75th minute to give Columbus State some cushion heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
Lizzie Hedrick tallied four saves in goal and was named the Tournament MVP. Ouimette,
Anna Grady and Beddow were tabbed the All-Tournament Team.

The NCAA tournament selection show is set for Monday, Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m. where Columbus State will learn what seed they will be in the Southeast Region.
