HICKORY, N.C. - For the third time this season, the Columbus State University women's soccer team will face off against Peach Belt Conference foe Flagler College, but this time it is for the running for the NCAA Division II Championship.
The Cougars are seeded fourth in the Southeast Region while the Saints were given the fifth seed spot. The teams will match up in the first round of the regional on Friday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. in Hickory, N.C., hosted by first-seed Lenoir-Rhyne University.
In the last match up, Columbus State defeated Flagler 2-1 in the PBC tournament semifinals, later going on to beat North Georgia 3-1 in the finals, winning the program's ninth PBC tournament title.
Anna Grady and
Sarah Hungerford each scored a goal in the contest against Flagler. During the regular-season, the Cougars and Saints tied 0-0 in St. Augustine, Fla.
It is no surprise that these two times will meet in the national tournament as in 2022, CSU defeated FC in the Southeast Regional championship after two overtimes and penalty kicks to advance to the super regional and national quarterfinals.
Information for the Southeast Regional hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne can be found
