GAINESVILLE, Ga. - The Columbus State University men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up the 2023 NCAA Southeast Regional Cross Country Championship on Saturday, Nov. 4. The races were hosted by the University of North Georgia at the UNG Cross Country Course.
Blake Lewis led the men's team to a tenth place finish out of 28 teams, as he crossed the finish line in 47th place, finishing the 10k with a time of 31:55.8. Next across the line in 69th place was Daniel Leonard with a time of 32:45.3.
Senior Savian Taylor finished in 73rd place crossing the line at 32:57.1 with fellow Senior Aidan Rush following in 88th place at a time of 33:16.7. Logan Fisher (33:18.7), Elijah Sires (33:52.4), and Nicholas Phillips (33:59.4) were the last Cougars to cross the line in 89th, 108th, and 116th place respectively.
Kaeleigh Brooks led the Columbus State University women's cross country team to a 19th-place finish out of 24 teams. Brooks was the first to cross the line for the Lady Cougars and 73rd overall, finishing the 6k with a time of 24:22.5. The second Lady Cougar to cross the line at 25:22.4 was Katerina Valenta in 104th place, followed by Alesia Johnson crossing the line at 25:34.5 in 108th place.
Freshman Zoey Roberts completed her first 6k race in 135th place with a time of 27:33.5. Senior Emily Marin completed her last collegiate cross country race with a time of 28:38.0, finishing 145th. Jenna Rolen (28:51.1) and Meghan Koh (29:06.0) finished their first 6k, placing 149th and 152nd, respectively.
