COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's basketball team fell to Tuskegee University 65-72 on Tuesday night inside the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center. With the loss, the Lady Cougars fall to 2-4 overall and the Golden Tigers improve to 5-2.
Both teams were neck-and-neck the entire game, heading into halftime with a tied score of 34-34. Columbus State was able to edge Tuskegee out in the third period, leading 56-49. However, the Golden Tigers made a breakthrough in the final 10 minutes of play, outscoring the Lady Cougars 20-9 to seal the road win.
Letiya Reeves led CSU with 14 points and seven rebounds, and
Amber Abusbeih tallied 12 points.
Olonna Rawls and
Olivia West each added eight points.
As a team, the Lady Cougars shot 36.4 percent (24-66) from the field, 25.0 percent (6-24) from three-point range and 47.8 percent (11-23) from the free-throw line. The Golden Tigers shot 50 percent (29-58) from the field, 42.9 percent (6-14) from the three-point line and 44.4 percent (8-18) from the charity stripe.

Columbus State will travel to Saint Leo, Fla. to play in the Saint Leo Tournament on Friday, Dec. 15 and Saturday, Dec. 16. The Lady Cougars are set to play D'Youville on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and Mercer on Saturday at 1 p.m.
