SAINT LEO, Fla. - After trailing at the half by two points, the Columbus State University women's basketball team's strong second half lifted them over D'Youville University 67-63 Friday afternoon in the Saint Leo Holiday Classic hosted by Saint Leo University. With the win, the Lady Cougars improve to 3-4.
The teams were tied after the first period of play, but D'Youville was able to outscore the Lady Cougars by two points in the second half to take the lead heading into halftime. CSU came out with fire in the third quarter, outscoring the Saints 20-16 to take a 48-46 lead. With just four seconds left, the game got within two points until two free-throws by 
Letiya Reeves gave CSU a cushion for the win.
Reeves led Columbus State with 23 points, shooting 60 percent (9-15) from the field, 66 percent (2-3) from three-point range and a perfect 100 percent (3-3) from the charity stripe. 
Jillian Bretz tallied 17 points, also shooting 60 percent (6-10) from the field and 62.5 percent (5-8) from behind the three-point line. 
Amber Abusbeih also scored in the double-digits with 10 points.
CSU shot 55.3 percent (26-47) from the field and 60 percent (6-10) from the free-throw line.

Columbus State will play Mercy College on Saturday at 1 p.m. to finish the Saint Leo Holiday Classic.
