Box Score 2 GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Columbus State University softball team split a pair of games against Tusculum University on Sunday, Feb. 19 at Red Edmonds Field. The Cougars are now 5-2.
GAME 1 - CSU 2, TU 6
- TU took the early 1-0 lead in the second, but CSU's Elyse Ambrose hit a two-run RBI single up the middle to score Caitlyn Canady and Madeline Parker to take the 2-1 lead
- The fourth inning was where things took a turn and the Pioneers scored four runs
- TU added another run in the fifth inning to secure the 6-2 win
- Hannah Rose Corbin received the loss inside the circle and is now 3-1
- Canady went 2-for-4 and Katelyn Cooper went 2-for-3
GAME 2 - CSU 9, TU 2
- Holly Lynn jacked a grand slam in the top of the first inning to give CSU a 4-0 lead over the Pioneers
- Ambrose ripped a three-run homer in the fifth to extend CSU's lead to 7-1
- Parker homered in the seventh and Mary-Catherine Sorrell hit an RBI single to make it 9-2
- Jessica Lopez earned the win on the mound, striking out sixÂ
- Corbin went 2-for-2 and Sorrell went 2-for-4

Columbus State will play Carson-Newman University on Friday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. at South Commons Softball Cmplex in Columbus, Ga. The three-day tournament is hosted by the NFCA.
