Cougars drop midweek game to AUM

This is CSU's first loss to AUM since 2017

MONTGOMERY, Ala - The Columbus State University baseball team loses their first road midweek game of the season to Auburn Montgomery by a score of 10-7. This loss ends CSU's nine game win streak and they are 9-2 on the season. AUM improves to 4-9 on the season.

Both teams came out swinging as the Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a first inning homerun from Matthew McDade, his fifth of the season. The Warhawks responded with two of their own in the bottom half.

AUM would take the lead in the bottom of the fourth by scoring two runners on two hits. The back-and-fourth game would continue as the Cougars would take the lead in the seventh inning with some good at bats that led to walks and a sac-fly from Isaiah Hernandez. The Warhawks would score three in the bottom half to make it a 7-5 ballgame. CSU would tie the game up in the eighth inning thanks to some free passes.

Both teams struggled to get runners on after the eighth as both bullpens were as stingy as could be. For CSU, Logan Seehafer and Leo Giannoni would combined for three scoreless innings. The bottom half of the 13th would prove fatal for the Cougars as AUM would hit a walk-off three-run shot.

NOTES:
- Derek Wylie posted three hits
- Matthew McDade and Isaiah Hernandez both tallied two RBI's
