Corbin Breaks CSU's Strikeout Record; Softball Falls to AUM

Hannah Rose Corbin broke the all-time strikeout record in a 4-2 loss against AUM on Tuesday.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Hannah Rose Corbin broke the Columbus State University all-time strikeout record of 648 strikeouts Tuesday evening, striking out four batters in the second game of the night against Auburn University Montgomery. With the four strikeouts, Corbin records 652 strikeouts in her career.

CSU dropped two games to AUM, losing 3-10 and 2-4. The Cougars are now 15-9 overall and the Warhawks are 18-10.

Game 1 - CSU 3, AUM 10
  • AUM scored four runs off of two home runs and a double in the second to take an early 4-0 lead over the Cougars
  • The Warhawks added three more runs in the third inning, making it a 7-0 ballgame
  • CSU minimized AUM's lead in the fifth, thanks to an RBI single from Caitlyn Canady and a Corbin two-run RBI single to make the score 7-3
  • The Warhawks scored another three runs in the fifth and sixth to give them the 10-3 win
  • Canady, Madeline Parker, Corbin and Grace Kiser each tallied one hit
  • Lopez received the loss inside the circle and is now 6-2 on the season
Game 2 - CSU 2, AUM 4
  • The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead in the first thanks to an Elyse Ambrose RBI single to right field, scoring Parker
  • AUM tied it in the first with a steal home
  • In the fourth, the Warhawks took the 2-1 lead off of an RBI sacrifice fly to left field
  • Katelyn Cooper tied the game at two in the fifth with a sacrifice fly to right field, plating Nova Wright
  • AUM secured the 4-2 victory in the sixth from an infield throwing error and another RBI sacrifice fly
  • Canady, Parker, Ambrose, Wright and Mary-Catherine Sorrell each posted one hit
  • Corbin broke the all-time strikeout record in the bottom of the first inning
UP NEXT
Columbus State will be on the road on Saturday, March 18 in Augusta, Ga. for a three-game series against Peach Belt Conference opponent Augusta University. The first game is set for 1 p.m.
