MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Columbus State University softball team fell 6-10 against Peach Belt Conference contender Georgia College & State University Sunday, March 5. The Cougars drop to 12-7 (1-3 PBC) and the Bobcats improve to 13-6 (3-3 PBC).
The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a
Brooke Miller triple to right field, scoring
Hannah Rose Corbin and
Elyse Ambrose. In the third inning, Corbin made it 3-0 after ripping an RBI double to right center to plate
Caitlyn Canady.
The Bobcats bounced back in the bottom of the inning scoring four runs off of two hits, one of those hits being a triple, and an infield fielding error, taking the 4-3 lead.
In the top of the fourth, Columbus State made it a 6-4 ballgame after scoring three runs on an overthrow to first base by GCSU's shortstop. However, the Bobcat's came out swinging in the bottom of the inning, scoring six runs off of three hits and a wild pitch to go ahead 10-6.Â
NOTES:
- Corbin received the loss on the mound and is now 5-4.
- Lindsey Patton led CSU's offense going 2-for-4.
- Canady, Corbin, Miller and Bayer each tallied one hit.
- Corbin was walked three times.
- Miller recorded two RBIs.
- CSU posted six hits, three errors and left seven runners on base.
