Cougars Sweep Flagler; Corbin Pitches No-Hitter

Hannah Rose Corbin recorded her second no-hitter of the season in the PBC sweep.

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University softball team swept a doubleheader against Peach Belt Conference for Flagler College on Saturday, April 1 at Cougar Field. The Cougars improve to 27-11 and the Saints drop to 20-22.

Game 1 - CSU 5, FC 0

Hannah Rose Corbin pitched her second no-hitter of the season after striking out seven batters and walking two in 7.0 innings of work. Corbin is now 13-7 inside the circle.

The Cougars scored all five runs off of home runs. Lindsey Patton jacked a three-run shot over right field to give CSU a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

Kenzie Bayer extended Columbus State's lead to 5-0 in the third inning with a two-run bomb over the left-center field wall.

Madeline Parker led the Cougars going 3-for-4 with a double. Freshman Anna Waites also hit a double and is on a three-game hitting streak.

Game 2 - CSU 5, FC 4

The Saints began the game with a 4-0 lead over the Cougars, scoring one run in the first and knocking in three in the third inning, featuring a home run from Paige Maseda and an Olivia Parker double.

In the bottom half of the inning, Columbus State minimized FC's lead to one run as the Cougars plated three. Caitlyn Canady hit a sacrifice fly to left field to plate Brooke Miller. Later in the inning, Elyse Ambrose walked with bases loaded, allowing Katelyn Cooper to score, and Laura Harris got hit by a pitch, walking in Madeline Parker.

Waites extended her hit streak as the freshman ripped an RBI double to tie the game at four.

In the bottom of the seventh, Bayer walked, and with two outs, Miller singled to put runners on first and second for the Cougars. Mary-Catherine Sorrell entered the game as a pinch runner for Bayer right before Katelyn Cooper walked. With bases loaded, Canady walked it off with a walk, allowing Sorrell to score.

Columbus State tallied six hits with Parker, Corbin, Harris, Miller, Waites and Cooper each recording one.

Haylee Folds earned the win on the mound after coming in for relief. She is now 4-2 on the season.
