COLUMBUS - Junior
Kenzie Bayer led the Columbus State University softball team to a 9-0 victory over Peach Belt Conference opponent Flagler College on Sunday, April 2. Bayer went 2-for-2 with four RBIs, three runs scored, one double and a three-run home run.
Columbus State is now 28-11 (13-2 PBC) and Flagler falls to 12-23 (7-11 PBC).
Bayer got things started for the Cougars in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI double to left center, plating
Laura Harris from first base. Later in the inning Bayer scored thanks to a
Grace Kiser sacrifice fly to right field, making it 2-0.
Bayer did it again in the third inning, this time ripping a three-run home run over the right center field wall to put CSU ahead 5-0.Â
With the run-rule in affect in the fifth and bases loaded,
Anna Waites hit a sacrifice fly out that was foul off of the right field line, allowing
Madeline Parker to tag up and score. With just two runs to score for the game to be over early, senior
Elyse Ambrose jacked a three-run pinch hit home run to left center field, making the final score 9-0.Â
Senior
Hannah Rose Corbin collected her second win of the series inside the circle, striking out seven batters and allowing one walk and four hits. She now posts a 14-7 record.
Parker, Harris and Bayer each tallied two hits.

Columbus State will prepare for a three-game PBC series against No. 1 ranked University of North Georgia on Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8 in Dahlonega, Ga.
