DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The Columbus State University softball team dropped the third game of the Peach Belt Conference series against No. 1 ranked the University of North Georgia on Monday, April 10. The Nighthawks beat the Cougars 2-10 and improved to 40-3 (19-2 PBC). CSU now posts a 30-12 record and is 15-3 in conference play.
North Georgia scored three runs, including a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning to take an early lead over Columbus State. The Nighthawks tallied three more runs to the board in third thanks to a double and another homer.Â
Brooke Miller put the lone two runs on the board for the Cougars in the fourth inning with a two-run RBI double into right center field, scoring
Kenzie Bayer and
Laura Harris.
The Nighthawks run-ruled the Cougars in the sixth with two home runs; one being a three-run shot and the other a solo bomb.
CSU tallied six hits on Monday with Harris leading the team with two.
Caitlyn Canady got her first start in the circle and received the loss.Â
Even though North Georgia got the best of CSU on Monday, the Cougars still won the crucial PBC series with the doubleheader sweep on Sunday.

Columbus State returns to Cougar Field on Tuesday, April 11 for another PBC series against Georgia Southwestern State University. The first pitch is set for 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
