Softball Set To Host USC Beaufort

The Cougars will play a three-game PBC series at Cougar Field against the Sand Sharks starting on Saturday.

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University softball team is set to host a three-game Peach Belt Conference series against the University of South Carolina Beaufort Sand Sharks on Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16. This will be the first meeting between both teams.

About the Cougars
  • CSU posts a 33-12 record with an 18-3 conference record.
  • The Cougars recently swept a PBC series against Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday, April 12 and took two of three games against No. 1 ranked North Georgia over Easter weekend. CSU snapped UNG's 38-game win streak on Sunday.
  • Kenzie Bayer is the reigning PBC Player of the Week after going 5-for-9 with seven RBIs, three home runs, three runs scored and one double in the Cougars' doubleheader sweep over the Nighthawks, and Hannah Rose Corbin was tabbed Pitcher of the Week after making two appearances against UNG, getting a complete-game win in the opener and two shutout innings in the second.
About the Sand Sharks
  • USC Beaufort is 11-33 overall and posts a 3-18 conference record in their first season in the PBC.
  • The Sand Sharks are on a four-game losing streak after dropping two games each to Young Harris and Georgia Gwinnett. In the conference, USCB has beaten Young Harris, Augusta and USC Aiken.

The Cougars and Sand Sharks will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and will play the final game on Sunday at noon.
