COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team defeated the Augusta Jaguars 11-3 on Sunday, April 16th. With the series win, the Cougars improve to 27-12 on the season and 14-10 in PBC play. The Jaguars fall to 21-20 and 12-15 in conference play.
On senior day, it was only fitting that the seniors in the batting order combined for 8 RBI's on the day. Senior
Connor Kirley got the scoring started for the second day in a row with a single into right field to score two in the second inning.
Steven Minter kept the scoring going with a double off the top of the wall in left field which rolled away from the left fielder to score two more Cougars.
Trace Twardoski singled Minter home right after to make it a five run ballgame.
The Jaguars scored one in the third off a wild pitch in the top half but the Cougars got the run back plus another as
Isaiah Hernandez roped a ball to right center to score
Matthew McDade and
Win Johns. The Cougars showed their power in the fourth inning as
Trace Twardoski homered to left for his third long ball of the season then two batters later,
Matthew McDade hit a no-doubter into the parking lot beyond the left field wall.

Steven Minter all had multi-hit and multi-RBI games.
On the mound,
Zack Brockman was dominant again for the Cougars in the starter roll. Brockman pitched seven innings of two run ball while striking out six. From one senior to another Brockman gave way to
Chandler Ring in the eighth.
Logan Seehafer closed the door in the ninth inning as he tossed a scoreless frame.
