AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Peach Belt Conference released the bracket and schedule for the 2023 softball tournament beginning on Friday, April 28 with the top eight teams in the league. The Columbus State Cougars were announced the first seed and will be one of the two host sites for the first round, and #2 North Georgia will be the host of the other site.
The 4, 5 and 8 seeds will play at CSU with the 2, 3 and 7 seeds at UNG. Each site will be a four-team double-elimination bracket with two games on Friday, three on Saturday and one or two on Sunday. The remaining teams from each site will then meet for a best-of-three championship series Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6. This format mirrors the NCAA regional format.
Columbus State is the #1 seed in the tournament for the first time since 2007. The Cougars and North Georgia both finished tied atop the PBC standings with 24-3 conference records. Columbus State takes the #1 seed in a tiebreaker, having beaten the Nighthawks in two of three games during the regular season.
The Cougars will kick-off the tournament against #8 Young Harris on Friday at 2 p.m.
