COLUMBUS - The Columbus State baseball team suffered a loss at the hands of Georgia Southwestern by a score of 0-8 on Thursday, April 6. The Cougars have lost four in a row and are now 24-10 on the season and 11-8 in PBC play. The Hurricanes improve to 20-12 and 13-6 inside the Peach Belt Conference.
The Cougars were able to collect 11 hits in the game and they had five innings where they had two runners on but were unable to have that big hit to score.
Steven Minter was on fire from the plate today as he had three hits today all of which were singles.
Isaac Bouton,
Ian King, and
Derek Wylie all had two hits a piece.
Seth Nelson and
Win Johns also had hits in the contest.
Nick McCollum tossed a complete game shutout for Georgia Southwestern and he gave up no free passes. He scattered 11 hits but buckled down on the mound when he had to. The Hurricane defense came to play as they rolled two double-play balls in innings that the Cougars had first and second with no out.
Jamie Boatright was fantastic out of the Cougars pen as he tossed three innings of one run ball while he struck out two.
Ryan Suppa pitched one inning and gave up no earned runs while striking out one.
