Corbin and Bayer Earn All-American Awards

Corbin was named First Team All-America for NFCA and D2CCA, while Bayer was named an All-American to the NFCA Third Team.

COLUMBUS - Columbus State University softball players Hannah Rose Corbin and Kenzie Bayer were named All-Americans on Wednesday, May 24. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the All-America teams Wednesday evening at the NCAA Division II Championship banquet at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, while the Division II Commissioner's Conference Association (D2CCA) revealed the teams earlier on Wednesday.

Corbin, the senior slugger and pitcher, earned two All-America First Team awards, one from NFCA and one from D2CCA. New in 2023 is the renaming of the first-team Utility/Pitcher award to honor the late Joan Joyce, an NFCA Hall of Famer and pioneer of women's sports. Corbin was voted Division II's inaugural recipient of the Joan Joyce Utility/Pitcher All-America First Team award. It marks her second First Team selection, first capturing it in 2021.

Columbus State's junior first baseman, Bayer, received her first All-American honor, being selected to the NFCA Third Team. CSU was one of 11 programs to take home two All-America accolades apiece, and was one of five teams to have one First Team winner.

The NFCA All-America teams are voted on by the Association's All-America Committees. In Division II, the committee is comprised of one member head coach from each of the NCAA's eight regions. All student-athletes who were nominated  by a member head coach and voted to the first- and second-team All-Region squads were eligible for All-America consideration.
