Columbus State Takes Down North Georgia, 78-75

Reeves' 24 points helps lead the Lady Cougars to victory over the Nighthawks.

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's basketball team defeated the University of North Georgia on Saturday, Jan. 13, in the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center in a thrilling 78-75 finish. With the victory, North Georgia endures their first conference loss and falls to 10-4 overall (3-1 PBC), while Columbus State improves to 6-6 overall (2-2 PBC).

Letiya Reeves led the Lady Cougars with 24 points. Two other Lady Cougars scored in double figures, including Jasmine Rai Stevens, who finished with 15 points and two blocks after connecting on five three-pointers. With 11 points and four assists, Amber Abusbeih became the third player to score in double figures.

As a team, the Lady Cougars were 35.3 percent (30-85) from field goal range, 25 percent (9-36) from behind the arc, and 75 percent (9-12) from the free throw line. The Lady Cougars' ability to force turnovers and score points off turnovers was critical to their success. CSU forced 29 turnovers from UNG, which accounted for 39 of their 78 points.
