AIKEN, S.C. - The Columbus State University women's basketball team grabbed a 76-65 road win over the University of South Carolina Aiken on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Cougars improved to 7-7 overall (3-3 PBC), and the Pacers fell to 4-12 (0-6 PBC).
Bre'lyn Snipes led the Lady Cougars with 19 points, a season-high, shooting 67 percent (6-9) from the field, a perfect 100 percent (6-6) from the free-throw line, and 50 percent (1-2) from three-point range. Olivia West also scored in double digits with her 12 points, shooting 2-for-4 from behind the arc and 5-for-9 from the field. Senior Amber Abusbeih had a season-high five steals and was the third Lady Cougar to score in double digits with 10.Â
The Lady Cougars maintained the lead for the full 40 minutes throughout the game against the Pacers. Columbus State started the game scoring 13 unanswered points, shooting 61 percent (11–18) from the field as a team outshooting the Pacers 24-4 in the first quarter. Columbus State also dominated the paint, scoring 44 points compared to USC Aiken's 14.Â
As a team, CSU shot 43.8 percent (28-64) from the field, 33.3 percent (4-12) from three-point range, and 69.6 percent (16-23) from the charity stripe.Â
