BLUFFTON, S.C. - The Columbus State men's basketball team fell to USC Beaufort on the road Wednesday night 118-123 in quadruple overtime. This is the Cougars' fourth consecutive loss, falling to 9-9 (3-6 PBC).
After trailing the Sandsharks 45-31 after the first half, the Cougars bounced back with a strong second half, scoring 51 points and holding USCB to only 37 points. In each overtime, both teams went back-and-forth, forcing another five minutes.
In the final overtime period, however, USC Beaufort took control, outscoring Columbus State 16-11 to seal the victory.
Wisdom Uboh led the Cougar offense with 27 points and
Marquis Davison scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Three more Cougars scored in the double-digits, including
Caleb Byrd (18),
Jehloni James (17) and
Jarrett Adderton (16).
As a team, CSU shot 39.3 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from the three-point line and 68.6 percent from the free-throw line.
