ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – No. 3-ranked Columbus State Women's Soccer traveled to St. Augustine (Fla.) for a Peach Belt Conference clash at Flagler (Fla.) on Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Cougars (9-0-1, 3-0-0 PBC) utilized an early second-half goal to move past the Saints (3-2-3, 1-2-2 PBC) in a 2-1 victory, remaining unbeaten this season.
First Half
Columbus State struck early with a goal in the third minute as
Emma Beddow headed in a corner kick from
Sarah Hungerford for the early one-goal advantage. The Lady Cougars pressured with shots on goal from
Abigail Akerson and Beddow just moments later, but Henley Grunst thwarted both attempts.
Grunst tallied another save off a shot from Beddow in the 19th minute before the Saints just narrowly missed the mark in the 25th minute as Presley Ancheta hit the crossbar. Flagler would eventually level the game at the 27th minute as Andrea Fernandez found the back of the net to equalize.
The Lady Cougars continued to pressure the Flagler defense with another shot on goal, but Grunst recorded another save before being sent off with a red card in the 33rd minute. Madi Narducci subbed in for a field player and went into the net, making three saves before the halftime intermission, keeping the 1-1 draw.
CSU finished the half with a 12-7 shot advantage and forced the Flagler keepers to make seven saves in the process.
Second Half
Columbus State came out of the break totaling five attempts towards goal in the first five minutes with two on target being saved by Narducci.
Lauren Barnes found the go-ahead goal in the 54th minute with the assist coming from
Faith Knoedler, giving CSU a 2-1 lead.
The Lady Cougars would go on to hold tight to the one-goal lead, with
Heidi Harris making saves in the 72nd and 79th minutes to keep CSU's lead alive. Columbus State finished the half with three more shots on goal, but Narducci denied each attempt.
The second half resulted in some physical play as CSU recorded six yellow cards throughout the half. CSU led 13-3 in shots with six on goal, forcing five saves from the home keeper.

- Columbus State outshot Flagler 25-10 with a 14-3 shot on goal edge as well
- Beddow bagged her sixth goal of the season, leading with 11 shots and five on goal
- Akerson followed with four shots while four others recorded two apiece
- Barnes recorded her fourth goal while Hungerford notched her third assist and Knoedler recording her first assist
- Flagler's goalkeepers totaled 12 saves while Harris recorded just two
- CSU led 9-3 in corner kicks
- Columbus State is now 17-5-5 against Flagler
